NEKOOSA – During the early afternoon hours of Oct. 17, fire crews were called to the Deer Trail Park Campground for the report of a camper fire.

The fire spread to the surrounding grass and the Wisconsin DNR was called in, but cancelled once the fire was under control.

Crews were able to maintain the fire to the immediate area and no one was injured.

Nekoosa and Port Edwards fire departments assisted with the fire.
