WISCONSIN RAPIDS – On Nov. 6, Representative Scott Krug, a Republican from Rome, will face David Gorski, Grand Rapids, who is running on the Democratic ticket to unseat Krug in the 72nd Assembly District.

Gorski

David Gorski

In the following WRCM interview excerpt, Gorski tells the community a little about himself:

“I grew up on the south side of Milwaukee in a neighborhood where everybody spoke Polish… I graduated from St. Vincent de Paul elementary/middle school. I went to Milwaukee Tech High School. It was Boys Tech when I started, and we changed the name during my junior year because we took girls; it was all boys. I graduated from there… After I graduated I spent some time in Florida, but I studied physical education and health education in La Crosse; graduated in 1983 and went to Bolivia in 1985. I work there for three years as an elementary physical education instructor. Also, I was the director of our sports facility.

“Later, then I came back and graduated from UW-Superior with my master’s degree in K-12 school counseling. That’s when I went to Chile and met my wife.

Then Gorski began a career with the Nekoosa School District. “It was a small school, and I got a chance to do a lot of things, as far as changing policy. I worked on the discipline policy at the middle school. I helped start the alternative program…

Krug is running for his fifth term in office and credits a supportive family for his ability to fill the assembly seat.

“I am married. We live down in the town of Rome. We are right off the lakes area, that is why we work so much on water issues in the state legislature, because I live right there (and) you can see it firsthand every day.

“I’ve got six kids – five teenagers and a four-year-old – so we are always super busy with everything that is going on from high school football playoffs and volleyball playoffs. My four-year-old is starting soccer. We are always active and about in the community and everywhere else with activities and events and things like that.”
