Opportunity Development Centers, Inc. awarded 2018 Sparks grant
For the City Times
WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities (BPDD) has awarded a 2018-19 Sparks grant to Opportunity Development Centers, Inc. (ODC) in Wisconsin Rapids.
The Access for All project through ODC will work with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families to address the many barriers they experience with transportation. Transportation is a serious issue all over the nation and living independently is highly impacted by the availability, affordability and quality of transportation. The project will work with current transportation providers to include people with disabilities in assessing access and satisfaction with current services, identifying areas for improvement, collaborating with local partners to develop strategies to address the identified issues, and implementing plans to improve overall options and quality.
The purpose of SPARKS Grants is to organize local grassroots groups that identify and make changes in their communities that result in a positive impact on the lives of people with disabilities. SPARKS Grants are funded by the BPDD and are available to people with developmental disabilities and family members in Wisconsin.
