For the Rapids City Times

BABCOCK – On Nov. 13 at 7 a.m., the Wood County Central Dispatch received a report of a car versus semi accident in the village of Babcock on State Hwy 80.

Wood County deputies say 72-year-old Victor J. Fahl, Ogema, was traveling south and failed to negotiate a curve and was struck by a northbound semi truck trailer driven by Brian A. Schweitzer, 56, of Beaver Dam.

Schweitzer semi was not injured, while Fahl was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Pittsville and Remington Fire departments. Fahl was the only occupant in the vehicle and was flown to Marshfield Medical Center.

Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in this crash.

The sheriff and fire departments were assisted by Nekoosa Ambulance and Life Link III.
