WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The John E. Alexander South Wood County YMCA (SWC YMCA) announced that is has been gifted with an addition to YMCA Camp Alexander on Nepco Lake.

Through the generosity of Pat and Brad Pavloski, the lake front peninsula on the north edge of the camp now belongs to the YMCA. With just over 33 acres of beautiful forestry, campers over many years will recall parking canoes and climbing the sandy embankment up to the highest point and grandest view overlooking Nepco Lake. Bret Salscheider, CEO of South Wood County YMCA, said, “We greatly appreciate Pat and Brad’s understanding of how important this parcel is to the history and enjoyment of the camp.”

Local attorney and past camper Patrick Arendt recalls, “I don’t know how much I remember about climbing up, but I have distinct memories as a camper of hurdling down the sand embankment and into the water. It’s great to hear that parcel is part of the camp again.”

YMCA Camp Alexander offers a variety of opportunities for youth in the summer months with new experiences, skill building, a sense of community, and lasting friendships. More than 400 children are annually mentored through camping and outdoor education experiences at YMCA Camp Alexander.
