Columbus, Assumption girls take first bracket of Cranberry Classic

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — The Columbus High School and Assumption High School varsity girls basketball teams took the first two games of the Assumption High School Cranberry Classic on Nov. 23.
Columbus topped the Nekoosa Papermakers in the first game of the tournament 60-40. Hailey Roehl was high scorer for Columbus with 29 and Addie Baierl added 12. For Nekoosa, Amanda Schaefbauer and Marissa Harnish led with 10 points each.
In the second match up for the varsity girls, Assumption beat the Loyal Greyhounds 56-42. Remi Geiger was high scorer for Loyal with 19. Maddie Bohn pounded in 29 for Assumption and Emily Bohn added 11.
Columbus will face Assumption Nov. 24 at 1:15 p.m. at Assumption High School, while Loyal will meet Nekoosa at 11:30 a.m. in the Consolation bracket.
