NEKOOSA – The Remington Volunteer Fire Department (RVFD) received a $2,500 donation from Ho Chunk Gaming, Nekoosa, on Nov. 28 to be used to complete outfitting the department’s Tender 7 with specialty hoses and valves.

“This will allow the water tanker to be utilized to its full potential in fighting fires,” RVFD Fire Chief Rodney Brockman explained.

The donation comes from proceeds from an Elvis Tribute Concert held at Ho Chunk Gaming in August to benefit the fire department.

“Our goal is to help where we can in our local communities,” Melanie McDonald, Ho Chunk Gaming, added.

Tender 7 was purchased in April after two years of fundraising projects by members of RVFD.

“Although Tender 7 is not new, it replaces an outdated tanker that was 40 years old.” Brockman stated. “On behalf of the fire department, we would like to thank the Ho Chunk Nation for this donation which allows small departments like ours to acquire needed equipment.”
