Check fraud

At 1:16 p.m., an employee at a Saratoga gas station called to report a man who was at there to cash a check. The employee remembered that the man had come in the night before to cash a check. He called and found the check was for a bank account that was closed. Deputies were able to locate the man.

Theft reported

At 5:14 p.m., a Saratoga man reported coming home and finding that someone had broke into his Saratoga residence. He reported that guns and cash were stolen. Investigation is ongoing.

November 28

Man warned for bad driving behavior

A 53-year-old man was warned for his driving behavior after stopping short of a stop sign in Grand Rapids and proceeding to drive in reverse for approximately three blocks at a high rate of speed.

Combine fire

At 12:13 p.m., a Pittsville man called to report that a combine was on fire in a field in the town of Remington. Remington and Pittsville Fire Departments were able to contain the fire.

November 30

Woman needs ride home

At 2:10 a.m., a bartender at an Arpin bar called to report that a woman kept asking the bartender for a ride home and wouldn’t leave. The bartender did not feel comfortable giving the woman a ride. A deputy arrived and gave the woman a ride to a nearby residence.

December 1

Loud noise heard

At 12:02 a.m., a Wisconsin Rapids resident called to report that they had heard a loud noise outside and went to check it out. He then noticed a bumper from a vehicle sitting on the sidewalk and that the stop sign post was bent over. He could also see tracks in the grass where the vehicle had traveled, as they were driving away. Police were able to locate the vehicle and driver.

December 2

Criminal damage reported

At 2:06 p.m., a man reported that a residence in Rudolph had windows broken and the door had been kicked in. The water in the basement was now frozen. The owner lives out of state and his son had stopped to check on the house. The house has nothing of value inside.
