December 6

Man warned for using gun in city limits

At 3:46 p.m., a Port Edwards woman called to report that someone was shooting at squirrels in a creek bed. Police arrived and spoke with a 59-year-old man who said he was shooting at woodpeckers with an ab air soft gun. He stated that the woodpeckers had been damaging the siding of his residence. The man was advised of the city’s firearm ordinance and warned.

December 7

Watching cops

At 2:47 p.m., a 25-year-old male was pulled over in the town of Grand Rapids and while pulled over the man, called dispatch and asked if the officer was in the right jurisdiction. He also told dispatch he was recording him and that he was “cop watching” all weekend. After the traffic stop the man called back several times asking to speak with the deputy. He was advised to contact the chief.

December 8

Man attempts citizen’s arrest

At 1:07 a.m., an 18-year-old Auburndale man called to report a vehicle that was driving at excessive speeds. The man admitted to following the speeding vehicle and cornering the vehicle in Hewitt. Dispatch asked the Auburndale man to let the vehicle leave. A deputy did contact the caller and spoke with him regarding chasing vehicles.

Drunk woman refuses to leave bar

At 1:58 a.m., an employee of a Wisconsin Rapids bar called to report that a female in the bar, who was intoxicated, refused to leave the bar after being asked. The bar did not serve the woman.

Scam reported

At 6:23 p.m., a Grand Rapids man called to report that he believes he was scammed out of $5,500. He said someone called claiming to be a “repo agent,” and said he would help them get “new” vehicles with a down payment. He is unable to reach the man. Police are investigating.

December 10

Neighborhood watch

At 6:04 p.m., a Grand Rapids man called deputies after seeing a vehicle pull into his neighbor’s driveway. The people then entered the garage. He was concerned as the neighbors were out of town for the week. Deputies arrived and found that the homeowners were there and had returned home from their trip earlier than expected.
