Tie breaker decides win for Rapids-Marshfield wrestling

MARSHFIELD – A tie breaker decided the win, as the Wisconsin Rapids Red Raiders wrestling team met the Marshfield Tigers Dec. 13 in Marshfield.

The meet ended in a 32-32 tie, with most wins claiming the match. Marshfield with six wins and Rapids with eight, gave the Raiders the tie breaking point. Rapids won 33-32.

Match results by weight: 106 – Preston Spray (Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln) over Sirius Conrad (Marshfield) technical fall 31-16 5:20; 113 – Keagan Cliver (Marshfield) over Lukas Erickson (Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln), fall 3:52; 120 – Damien Bennet (Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln) over Shane Westerhausen (Marshfield), decision 3-2; 126 – Gabe Pugh (Marshfield) over Allister Greening (Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln), fall 2:54; 132 – Cale Benitz (Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln) over Caden Dennee (Marshfield), decision 8-6; 138 – Tanner Kanable (Marshfield) over Ryan Sering (Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln), major decision 18-8; 145 – Zac Hamel (Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln) over Dustin Altman (Marshfield), fall 2:36; 152 –  Wyler Lubeck (Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln) over Caden Pearce (Marshfield), decision 5-1; 160 –  Wyler Lubeck (Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln) over Caden Pearce (Marshfield), decision 5-1; 170 –  Roger Fuller (Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln) over Jayden Wilhelm (Marshfield), decision 5-1; 182 – Bentley Schwanebeck-Ostermann (Marshfield) over Andrew Schutz (Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln), major decision 11-3; 195 – Isaac Diaz (Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln) over Ben Gust (Marshfield), decision 10-6; 220 – Sam Mitchell (Marshfield) over Layne Kalata (Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln), fall 0:36; and 285 –  Mike Iverson (Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln) over Kavin Beranek (Marshfield), fall 1:14.

Marshfield will face Merrill on Dec. 20, after competing in the Shawano invitation. Rapids wrestling will take on Stevens Point Dec. 20, after the West Allis invitational.
