George L. Piekarski, age 84, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home. Pastor Kevin Ader will officiate.  Full military honors will be conducted following the service.  Burial will take place at St. John Lutheran Parish Cemetery at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will precede the service, beginning at 1:00 P.M. Online condolences may be expressed at www.taylorfuneralhome.net.

George was born August 1, 1934 in Stevens Point, WI to Frank and Catherine (Wayarski) Piekarski. He met the love of his life, Shirley Peters at his 20th birthday party. They were married on August 18, 1956 at St. John Lutheran Church in Kellner, WI.  The innocent holding of hands led to 62 years of wonderful memories of married life together.  George honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.  After his service was completed, he came home and began working as a bricklayer, which led him to begin his partnership in K&P Concrete.  He enjoyed hunting, including coyote hunting, fishing, working on cars, and sitting outside enjoying nature. George was a staunch Packers and Brewers fan.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; children: Joe (Melissa) Piekarski and Lori (Juan) Corral; grandchildren: Noah Corral and Nala Corral; and his sisters: Carol Alft and Janice (Don) Ryman. In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his sister, Muriel Fix.  He is loved and will be deeply missed.
