NEKOOSA – The Nekoosa girls basketball team got a much needed win against Wautoma Dec. 21 at Nekoosa High School.

Nekoosa had a hefty 23-7 lead by halftime and added 29 points in the second, compared to Wautoma’s 12, to secure a 52-19 win.

Diana Duran was high scorer for Wautoma, with eight; while, Izzy Escamilla put in 15 for Nekoosa – including three treys.

“This was a much needed game after losing the previous two by five points,” said Nekoosa Head Coach Scott Linzmeier. “Girls did a great job of getting on top early and not letting Wautoma have any sign of life. It was nice seeing them make some 3s too.”

Next up for Nekoosa is Wisconsin Dells on Jan. 4.

Nekoosa is now 4-5, 1-1 conference.
