WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Make a brief escape to New Orleans at the Performing Arts Center of Wisconsin Rapids on Jan. 25 at 7:30 p.m., with Sammy Miller and The Congregation.

This group is on a mission to put the generosity back into jazz and bring art back to the people. They play joyful New Orleans-type jazz—music that feels good. It is a style that entertains, enriches, but most of all, uplifts.

A native of Los Angeles, Grammy-nominated drummer Sammy Miller has become known for his relentless focus on making music that feels good as a drummer, singer, and bandleader.

Purchase tickets through The Arts Council’s web site 24/7 at www.SavorTheArts.org. Stop by the Center office at 1040 8th Street South, Suite 101, Wisconsin Rapids, or call 715-424-2787 during office hours. Office hours are 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday.

The afternoon of the show, local students are invited to interact with the performers in a workshop titled, “Blues Don’t Bother I: The Life and Times of Louis Armstrong and Bessie Smith.” Sammy Miller and The Congregation enjoy sharing the history behind their music with students. For more information on the outreach, please call 715-424-2787.
