Ivan Wilhorn

Ivan Robert Wilhorn, age 76, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 in Harlingen, TX.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Edwards.  Rev. Daniel Bohn will officiate.  Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids.  Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 26 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services on Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Ivan was born September 9, 1942 in Wausau, WI to Louie and Venita (Hildebrandt) Wilhorn.  He grew up in Little Falls, MN and later moved to Port Edwards, WI.  He went to high school at John Edwards High School in Port Edwards and graduated in 1960.  He went on to earn a business degree from Lakeland College in Sheboygan, WI.  After college he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the 629th Ordnance Company in Vietnam.

Ivan was united in marriage to Jacqueline (Jackie) Wheelock on May 22, 1971.  They were blessed with 47 of marriage.

He worked at Woolco in Wisconsin Rapids and retired from Consolidated Papers in 1999.

Ivan enjoyed golfing at Homestead with Jerry, Griz, Frosty, and Dick.  An early riser, he also enjoyed walking every morning whether in Wisconsin Rapids or in South Padre Island.  He was an avid reader and could often be found with a book in his hand.  He enjoyed traveling, especially spending winters in South Padre Island, TX.

Ivan is survived by his wife Jackie; son, Brian (Jennifer); grandchildren: Megan, Ethan, Abias and Leeli; sister, Barbara Lieber; and sister-in-law, Susie Wilhorn.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Venita Kappel, father, Louie Wilhorn, stepfather, Ben Kappel, brother, George Wilhorn, mother-in-law, Emily Wheelock, and brother-in-law, Arthur Lieber.

A memorial will be established at a later date.
