David Cook Obituary

David L. Cook, age 85, of Wisconsin Rapids, went to be with his Lord and Savior in Heaven on Friday, December 28, 2018, at Ascension St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point, surrounded by his loving family.

Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 31, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church in Kellner, WI. Full military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 9 of Wisconsin Rapids. Inurnment will take place at St. John Lutheran Parish Cemetery.  Rev. Kevin Ader will officiate. A time of visitation, for family and friends, will begin at 9:30 A.M. and go until the time of the funeral service on Monday at the church.  Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Cook family at this difficult time.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.taylorfuneralhome.net.

David was born February 17, 1933 in Clifton, WI to Cecil and Olga (Pasch) Cook. David honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Hall on September 7, 1957 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. They were blessed with 61 years of wonderful memories.  David owned and operated Dave Cook Excavating.  He served on the local town board for many years.

He played country music all of his life, and shared his talents with many of his family, friends, and country music stars.  David enjoyed traveling, camping, and fishing in Canada, with family and friends. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

David is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his children: Pamela (Paul) Kromrie and Carmen (Phillip White) Cook; his grandchildren: Alexandria (Paul) Bellar and Cody Kromrie; his great-grandchildren: Eleanora Bellar and Oliver Bellar; his siblings: John (Doreen) Cook, Elizabeth DeBaets, and Paul (Barbara) Cook; he is further survived by many extended relatives and friends.  In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his siblings:  Cecil Cook Jr., George (Elisabeth) Cook, Martin (Eldora) Cook, and his brother-in-law, Robert DeBaets.

A special thank-you goes out to the staffs at the Veteran’s Clinic in Wisconsin Rapids, Ascension St. Michael’s Oncology, and the 5th floor nursing staff for providing exceptional care and comfort to David and his family.
