Man loses control

At 5:56 p.m., an employee of an assisted living facility called to report that a 24-year-old man was losing control and banging things around inside. He then went outside for a walk without his shoes. The man eventually calmed down, came back inside, and sat down. Officers arrived and gave the man a warning.

Unconscious driver reported

At 5:08 a.m., officers received a report of an unconscious person in a car. Officers arrived as the man was waking up. The man was not responding to any commands the officer gave and it was unknown if there was a language barrier.  After three insufficient breath samples were attempted, the man was taken to the local hospital for a blood draw. He was taken to the jail and eventually released to a responsible person.

Woman on the run

At 6:17 a.m., a suspicious female was reported running around and going into different businesses on Eighth Street South. When the caller tried to help the woman, she seemed frightened and took off running again. Officers were able to catch up to her and got her information. She was found to be under the influence of drugs. The woman was taken to jail on a probation hold.

At 2:58 a.m., a 24-hour Wisconsin Rapids pharmacy called to report a theft at their store. The 36-year-old man had taken off on foot. Police were able to track the man down a few blocks from the store. After getting a medical clearance, he was arrested.

More counterfeit bills

At 6:54 p.m., a Wisconsin Rapids gas station employee called to report that a man had been in earlier and tried to pay with a counterfeit bill. After confronting the man, he did pay for his items with money and nothing was stolen. The man came back later and attempted, once again, to use the counterfeit bills. This time, the man left without his items when told the bill was fake. The employees were able to provide a name and photo of the man.

January 6

Wine and dash

At 3:05 a.m., a theft was reported at a 24-hour store in Wisconsin Rapids. The suspect had stolen a bottle of wine and had a getaway driver. The two-man team was seen leaving the parking lot of a nearby hotel in a vehicle.

No place to sleep

At 3:19 a.m., a hotel in Wisconsin Rapids reported a woman sitting in her vehicle in the parking lot. The employee advised the woman to go back to her room. After a second attempt to get the woman to go to her room, she admitted that she did not have a room to stay in. After officers spoke with the woman and the hotel employees, it was decided that the woman should call a cab to get home.
