Cecil L. Leverton, age 87, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Friday, January 18, 2019 at the Renaissance Assisted Living Center, Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Fr. Robert Schaller will officiate. Visitation will be at Saints Peter & Paul Church on Thursday from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial at a later date. Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI is assisting the family.

Cecil was born February 2, 1931 in McMillan, WI to Jesse and Bertha (Ault) Leverton. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949 and then served in the U.S. Navy for three years. Cecil married Mary Ann Konash on June 27, 1953 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

Cecil was a letter carrier for 32 years retiring in 1989. He also played string bass in dance bands and polka bands and was a member of the Marshfield Wood County Symphony for 32 years and the Wisconsin Rapids City Band for 6 years. Later he played with “Four on the Floor” with bass and harmonica at the Cultural Center.

Cecil is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; two daughters, Lori (Wayne) Hilgart of Rudolph, WI and Lisa Leverton of Madison, WI; one grandson, Mark (Bethany) Wolfe and three great grandchildren, Brennan, Braylee and Brittyn.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents and son, Mark Leverton.

In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in Cecil’s name at a later date.
