BABCOCK – A suspect has been identified in a large tire dump near Babcock in Wood County.

The Wood County Sheriff’s office and the Wisconsin DNR issued a statement on Jan. 24 seeking assistance in identifying suspects who may have dumped approximately 500-1,000 tires just off Ingram Road by State Highway 173 near Babcock.

The sheriff’s office said the incident occurred between Jan. 22 at 8 p.m. and Jan. 23 at 8 a.m. They added that the suspects had “likely used a truck and trailer to transport the tires to Ingram Rd where they then threw the tires in the ditch and along the road.”

The Wood County Sheriff’s office issued a statement on Jan. 25 that a suspect had been identified and located.

Further information on the incident may be reported to the Wisconsin DNR at 1-800-847-9367 or the Wood County Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-800-325-STOP (7867).
