For the Rapids City Times

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties’ Volunteer Center promotes the volunteer needs of local non-profit organizations in both south Wood and Adams Counties. Here is how you can get involved and volunteer for these great organizations.

Lowell Center- Special Event Food Prep and Server: This job would include making coffee, cutting and arranging snacks on plates/napkins, pouring drinks, making popcorn, running soda sales, and coordinating distribution of refreshments and helping serve them. The time commitment would be occasional, a minimum of two hours each time.

Blood Pressure Screening Receptionist (backup): Every Tuesday for one and a half to two hours, to register clients in sign-in book and assign a number to each client. You will also call out numbers for an individual’s turn.  This position is currently filled, but they would like to have a back-up or two.

South Wood County Humane Society- Morning Animal Care: Every morning, weekends, and holidays included, Humane Society staff take part in heavy cleaning at the shelter. Dogs are taken outside, kennels cleaned, given fresh bedding/water and brought back inside. Cats are put in smaller carriers, kennels cleaned, given fresh bedding/food/water and returned to their kennel.
