James Stelmacher, age 66 of Nekoosa died Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nekoosa. Rev. John Swing will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. A memorial visitation will be held Thursday at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Jim was born June 30, 1952 in Wisconsin Rapids to Clarence and Effie (Michalsen) Stelmacher.

He was a mechanic at Dick Neuville Buick and Pontiac in Wisconsin Rapids. He previously was a mechanic at Jim Buck Motors, Clark Motors and Ole Arneson’s Service Station. Jim enjoyed being in the woods with his brother Dave and hiking year round with his friend Sue White. He also enjoyed fishing. In earlier years he skied and was a member of the Tri Norse Ski Club. Jim was a mentor for AA and was an active member of Sacred Heart Church.

He is survived by two children Amy (Timothy) Koth of Nekoosa and Michael (Kyleen Roth) Stelmacher of Madison; grandchildren Kayla, Tyler, Ashlynn and baby Stelmacher due in April; brother David (Sharon) Stelmacher of Nekoosa; his girlfriend Sue White of Wisconsin Rapids and her family and his former wife Dawn Mitchell.

Jim was preceded in death by his father Clarence, his mother Effie, his stepfather Edger Hamm and his brother Peter Stelmacher.
