Luella Ann Ashbeck, age 90, of Port Edwards, WI died Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Renaissance Assisted Living Center, Wiscosnin Rapids, WI.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Friday, February 8, 2019 at St. Alexander’s Catholic Church, Port Edwards, WI. Fr. John Swing will officiate. Visitation will be at St. Alexander’s Church on Friday from 9:00-11:00 AM. Burial will take place in the Village of Port Edwards Cemetery. Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI is assisting the family.

Luella was born February 5, 1928 in Rudolph, WI to Joseph and Loretta (Wydeven) Dorshorst. She graduated from St. Philip’s Grade School in 1941 and then St. John’s High School in Little Chute, WI in 1945. Before marriage, Luella worked for Harvard Cloths and Paperboard in Wisconsin Rapids.

Luella married Edward P. Ashbeck on April 7, 1948 in Blenker, WI. They farmed in the Town of Sherry for 21 years and moved to Port Edwards in 1969. Edward preceded her in death on May 18, 2012. Luella was a member of the St. Alexander’s Women’s Club and was a volunteer at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home for many years.

Luella is survived by son, Dennis (Susan) Ashbeck of Auburndale, WI; three daughters, Kathy (Chris) Strope of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Jane Ashbeck of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and Gail (Mark) Krings of Port Edwards, WI; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one brother, Gerald (MaryAnn) Dorshorst of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; two sisters, Alvina Brown of Wisconsin Rapids ,WI and Jacqueline Ashbeck of Auburndale, WI; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Dorshorst and Kathy Dorshorst, both of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

Luella was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edward; two brothers, Marnis Dorshorst and James Dorshorst; and brothers-in-law, Charles Brown and Arthur Ashbeck.

The Ashbeck family would like to thank the staff at the Renaissance Assisted Living Center for the kind, compassionate care given to Luella.
