Local wrestlers move on to sectionals

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Multiple local wrestlers will move on to sectional competition following regionals held in Merrill and Amherst on Feb. 9.

In Merrill, the Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln team took second to Marshfield, 237-204.5.

Lincoln Red Raiders moving on in individual sectional competition at Menomonie on Feb. 16, by weight class, include: 106, Preston Spray, second; 120, Damien Bennet, fourth; 126, Cale Benitz, second; 138, Zac Hamel, third; 138, Ryan Sering, third; 145, Wyler Lubeck, first; 160, Roger Fuller, fourth; 170, Isaac Diaz, second; 182, Andrew Schutz, second; 195, Peter Rucker, second; 220, Layne Kalata, second, and 285, Mike Iverson, third.

Nekoosa/Assumption wrestlers placing in regionals in Amherst on Feb. 9, include:106, Gavin Hall, first; 113, Blaze Thurber, first; 120, Nathan Gellerup, first; 138, Craig Elsen, first; 145, Brant Hall, first; 160, Aden Elsen, first; 170, Ben Elsen, first; and 220, Jimmy Schaefbauer, first.

These wrestlers will move on to sectional competition in Wrightstown on Feb. 16.
