Riverkings go 1-1 in Hudson, enter final leg of season

HUDSON – The Riverkings won night one of the two-game, Feb. 8-9, series at Hudson with a 3-1 victory. Goal scorers included Tanner Dey, Jesse Edwards, and Adam Peterson — who snagged an empty netter as time expired. Richard Young, Max Moore, Reymond Fleming, Tomas Krchnak, Thimo Ey, and Jordan Stear all had assists on the night.
Drake Bradshaw allowed one goal on the night but battled hard before an injury. Gio Podalinski took the net in Bradshaw’s place and kept it clean for the last half of the third period.
Riverkings fell to Hudson in a 4-5 thriller on night two. Adam Peterson had two on the night, with Cole Creger and Rich Young also scoring goals. Creger, Stear, Peterson, Kyle Smith, Luke Millius, and Fleming all picked up assists.
Podalinksi started the night in goal and was relieved in the third by Paciocco, after allowing five.
Since the beginning of the new year, the Riverkings have been 9-3, defeating the top team in their division three times, bringing the top three teams even closer in total points. Sitting at number three in the division, the Riverkings made an appearance at No. 6 in the league power rankings this week out of over 50 teams, surpassing the top two teams in their division.
Goalie Drake Bradshaw sits at No. 1in the top 100 goalies at the Tier 3 level, with a minimum of 660 minutes played. Bradshaw’s save percentage is a 93.5. Four year returner and Captain Adam Peterson is ranked No. 55 in points among over 3,000 Tier 3 Junior Hockey skaters contributing an average 1.59 points per game. Peterson is also tied for seventh in the USPHL Premier scoring leaders with 31 goals and 31 assists, accumulating 62 points in 40 games, and is first in the Midwest Division.
The Riverkings’ final regular season games take place on home ice at the South Wood County Recreation Center Feb. 15-16, as they face the Minnesota Blue Ox. The Blue Ox sit behind the Riverkings at No. 4 in the Midwest West.
