Rapids boys swimming takes eighth at sectionals

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids boys swimming team took eighth in Division 1 sectional competition held Feb. 9 at Lincoln High School.

Rapids also placed in the top 10 for five separate events. The team of Jackson Benda, Trevor Vechinski, Simon O’Day and Mitchell Hammer placed seventh in the 200-yard medley, while Nathan Scheunemann took seventh in 50-yard freestyle. Scheunemann also took tenth place in 100-yard freestyle competition.

The team of Benda, Vechinski, Hammer, and Scheunemann took seventh in the 200-yard freestyle relay, and the team of Ethan Hess, Harrison Lambert, Jr., O’Day, and Adam Price took ninth in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Lincoln ended with a team total of 88 to land them in eighth place. Hudson took first with 359.
