Rapids steamrolls Wausau East-Merrill

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids boys hockey team steamrolled Wausau East-Merrill, during their Feb. 11 match up at South Wood County Recreation Center.
Colton Flammini blazed the way, scoring in the first period with assistance from Isaac Evenson and Myles Auclair. Colin Brey continued to add to the score with a first period goal brought in by Cobe Acker.
The second period brought two more for the Red Raiders – a goal by Gaven Duckett, assisted by Harley Sanders and Acker, and one from Auclair, assisted by Spencer Sparks and Flammini.
Acker scored early in the third period, with help from Carson Gunderson. A couple of minutes later, Flammini brought one in, assisted by Evenson and Auclair. Michael Olson scored another goal to round out the third period, assisted by Colton Sanger and Evenson.
Three scoreless periods for Wausau East-Merrill brought the game to a 7-0 Rapids final.
The win brings Wisconsin Rapids to 2-7 in the Wisconsin Valley, 11-12-0 overall.
