Port Edwards girls come from behind

Jade Martin scores her 1000th point

WILD ROSE – On Feb. 11, the Port Edwards girls traveled to Wild Rose to take on the Lady Wildcats. In a game where the Blackhawks got down by as much as eight late in the first half, they fought back to go into the locker room down by just four points, 23-27.  In the second half the Blackhawks got hot, connecting on 10 of 16 from inside the arc and making four of seven from behind the 3-point arc. They were also 10 of 14 from the free throw line in the second half.

Port Edwards scored 42 points in the second half to take the victory 65-61.

Kaitlyn Lyp led the Blackhawks in scoring with 26 points to go along with nine rebounds and seven assists. Jade Martin added 16 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Taylor Martin had 15 points and six rebounds.  Brynna Hawk and Krystal Rzepka each added four points.

In addition to earning the win, Jade Martin scored her 1000th point in the game, finishing the game with 1007 career points.  The win brings the Blackhawks to a 10-9 overall record and 8-3 in conference play.
