Nekoosa falls to Mauston in final home game

NEKOOSA – Nekoosa boys basketball played in their last home game in a conference match up against the Mauston Golden Eagles Feb. 21 at Nekoosa High School.

Nekoosa was down by six at the half, 34-28, battling back and forth the entire game. Free throws made a huge difference in this game as Mauston went 21 of 28 from the line and Nekoosa went 7 of 17. The Golden Eagles ended up pulling out the victory 71- 58.

Leading the scoring for Nekoosa was Drew Doebereiner, with 22, and Jace Lobner, with 19.

Mauston’s lead scorers were Joe Bauer, 24, and Cade Hall, 12.

Nekoosa moves to 3 and 18 on the year, 1 and 9 in the South Central Conference. Mauston moves to 16 and 5 on the year, 8 and 2 in the South Central Conference.

Nekoosa plays at G-E-T on Feb. 26 for the first round of regional competition.
