WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Lincoln High School Cheer and Stunt team narrowly missed a trip to Wisconsin Association of Cheer/Pom Coaches (WACPC) state competition, during state semifinal competition March 1 at the La Crosse Civic Center.
“The cheer team competed in a very tough division of 18 teams in semifinals,” said Varsity Cheer Coach Marci Doersch. “They needed to make top nine to make finals and they placed 10th out of 18th by 0.1. They did hit a very solid routine and it was the best they have done all season.”
Members of the team, include: Erica Addis, Kaitlyn Barse, Hallie Cammarta, Jasmine Conway, Ashley Fuller, Irelynn Hanley, Stephanie Jahnz, Faith Jepson, Victoria Johnson, Penelope Lewis, Ashlee Minor, Lizzy Nystrom, Jordan Palmieri, Shauna Pazurek, Mykenna Primeau, Aaliyah Servantez, Kylie Schleisner, Mallory Schultz, Kaitlyn Small, Emily Smith, Taylor Swanson, Aubree Swisher, Jaylee Williams, Kaylee Williams, Kalissa Winkels, Lexi Wolf, Destiny Zernike, and Coach Marci Doersch.
During the cheer season, the team took first place at Lumberjack Championships at Wausau East High School, a first at the UWEC Fired Up Championships, and second place at UWSP It’s Showtime Championships.
“This was a great season for these athletes,” added Doersch. “They came so far throughout the entire season. Most of the athletes have never been a cheerleader before and to go to a state tournament and take 10th out of 18, and come so close to state finals, is a great accomplishment.”
