Schneider enters pleas
For the Rapids City Times
WISCONSIN RAPIDS – A Wisconsin Rapids man has been charged for a 2017 robbery.
Robert Schneider was formally charged with robbery with use of force in Wood County Circuit Court on April 8. The charges stem from an incident on July 10th, 2017, where two men in hooded sweatshirts robbed an employee at Baltus Bread and Butter.
The next day, a cash bag from the store was located in Westfield containing receipts and checks. The bag was then matched with a story from a Wood County Jail inmate who knew Schneider, and the inmate told police that Schneider had told him about the robbery and disposing of the bag in a location that matched where the bag was found.
The other suspect in the robbery has not been identified, and Schneider has denied his involvement as he said he took a trip to the Wisconsin Dells at that time.
Schneider was released on a $10,000 signature bond. His bond includes restrictions of having to stay off the premises of any Baltus Bread and Butter gas station and have no contact with those involved in the robbery.
Schneider is due back in court April 24 for a preliminary hearing and arraignment.
