Aqua Skiers kick off 2019 season
For the Rapids City Times
WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Aqua Skiers Show Team has officially kicked off their 2019 season.
The team has been meeting once a month since January for land practices. During land practices the team works together to teach and practice climbing pyramids, strap doubles, trios, conven-tional doubles, and dances. It is very important to practice on land and master these skills before hitting the water.
Show Director Pam Heineck says she anticipates many opportunities for individual development this season, with new, upcoming, and well-seasoned talent blended together.
The team took home sixth place at the Division One Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Cham-pionships in 2018 and qualified for the Division One National Show Water Ski Tournament.
The team is a non-profit show waterski team, founded by Jack Lukes; they are family orientated and focus on the future. The team offers learn-to-ski events and clinics to guide community youth.
The Aqua Skiers perform Sunday through Thursday at Red Sands Beach at Lake Wazeecha dur-ing the summer months.
Those interested in joining should attend the next land practice – April 28 at St. Luke’s Church, Wisconsin Rapids, 1-3 p.m. All ages and ski levels are welcome. For more information, email [email protected], visit www.aquaskiers.org, or find them on Facebook.
