Community Theatre to present Dearly Departed
For the Rapids City Times
WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids Community Theatre opens the final production of the season on May 10 with the delightful comedy, “Dearly Departed” by Jesse Jones and David Bottrell, directed by Linda Garski.
Set in the Baptist Bible Belt, Dearly Departed introduces the audience to the Turpin family as they gather for the funeral of the family patriarch. Despite all their efforts to pull themselves together for the funeral the family’s other problems seem to keep overshadowing the solemn occasion.
With a cast of 19, WRCT is excited to have several new faces grace the stage for this production, as well as several WRCT veterans and familiar faces. These new and veteran actors have come together to provide a new take and energy to the characters, so audience members who might have seen the original production of the show, during the 1998-99 season, will have a whole new experience.
Performances will be held May 10, 11, 16, 17, & 18 at 7:30 p.m., and May 19 at 2 p.m. in the Gilbert & Jaylee Mead Auditorium at Wisconsin Rapids Community Theatre, located in the Centralia Center. Tickets can be purchased at the WRCT box office, online at www.wrctheatre.org, or by calling 715-421-0435.
