WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Boxing team won the state Junior Olympic Team title, edging out United Community Center of Milwaukee by two points, at the close of April.

The team will send four champions to the Midwest Regional Tournament in Davenport, IA, June 1-2.

Winning championships for the team were Evan Stenerson, Will Stenerson, and Jimmy Wiggins of Wisconsin Rapids, and Taylor Smith of Nekoosa.

For his boxing performance, Evan Stenerson also won the Merlin Lindow award.

It was Wisconsin Rapids’ first team championship, since winning the title in 1979.
