Rangers earn back-to-back wins against Merrill

MERRILL – The Post 9 Rangers earned back-to-back wins against Merrill on July 1 in Merrill.

In game one, Caleb Krommenakker didn’t allow a single run against Merrill, throwing a complete game shutout and leading the Rangers to a 10-0 victory.
Post 9 got things started in the first inning. Garrett Huber drew a walk, scoring one run.

The Rangers put up five runs in the sixth inning; the offense was led by Cody Bredl, Tyler Beyer, Jake Wipfli, and Nathan Krommenakker, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Krommenakker was on the mound for Post 9 Rangers 18U. He lasted six innings, allowing four hits and zero runs while striking out seven and walking one.

Vinnie Gualla was on the pitcher’s mound for Merrill. He allowed four hits and five runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five. Peyton Becker threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Bredl went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Post 9 in hits. Schnider led Merrill with two hits in three at bats.

The Rangers then won the second contest against Merrill, 7-2.

Post 9 opened up scoring in the first inning. Donovan Brandl singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

The Rangers totaled seven hits. Jack Wenzel and Brandl each collected two hits to lead Post 9 Rangers.

Bailey led Merrill with two hits in three at bats.

Ethan Peters took the win for the Post 9 Rangers. He went six innings, allowing zero runs on four hits, striking out seven and walking one. Joshua Schwalbach threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Brett Suebert led things off on the mound for Merrill. He lasted five innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs while striking out three and walking one. Ty Bailey threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
