Post 9 Rangers grab early lead over Point

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – An early lead helped the Post 9 Rangers defeat Stevens Point 7-2 on July 9. The Rangers scored on a double by Garrett Huber in the first inning and an error in the second inning, then pulled away for good with one run in the second inning.
Post 9 went on to notch three runs in the fifth inning, thanks to a singles by Josh Zwicke and Gabe Zwicke, and a double by Huber.
Ethan Peters was the winning pitcher for Post 9. He surrendered two runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out four. Tyler Beyer threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Austin Frafjord was on the hill for Stevens Point. He lasted four innings, allowing one hit and four runs. Jacob Danielson threw two innings out of the bullpen.
Huber went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Post 9 in hits. The Rangers were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Huber made the most plays with four.
Stevens Point racked up 10 hits in the game. JD Schultz, Zach Zimmerman, and Reese Gaber all had multiple hits for Stevens Point. Schultz led Stevens Point with three hits in four at bats.
