Raymond Pozzi
Raymond (Ray) T. Pozzi, 67, of Cornucopia, WI (formerly of Wisconsin Rapids, Aurora, IL and Soldiers Grove) passed away Monday, May 20, 2019 surrounded by family. He was born November 5, 1951 in Aurora, IL to Doris Mae (Wood) and Virgil “Leo” Pozzi.
Ray was a talented carpenter, doing many different jobs throughout his career and was owner of Ray Pozzi Builders where he built beautiful custom log homes. He was very creative and loved nature, walking the beaches of Lake Superior, watching the sunset, enjoying a fire and thanking His Creator for the blessings of each day. He loved collecting driftwood that he would make mobiles and furniture out of and sharing these with family and friends or selling them at local art shops. He loved fishing year-round, but especially bass fishing. He was a talented athlete and especially enjoyed his time wrestling for Wisconsin Rapids in high school and the life-long friendships he gained from that experience. He liked playing cards, bird watching, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, playing piano, listening to music, telling stories and making people laugh. He was a deep thinker who liked his quiet time, journaling, writing handwritten letters to loved ones and to caring for his land. He had a deep love and appreciation for his children, grandchildren, canine companions, family and friends. He took time to notice, appreciate and share the simple things in life. He gave the best hugs, had a big smile, a big heart, and a fun, young-at- heart, loving personality that is greatly missed.
He is survived by his children, Catrina (Darrin) Wastlick of Lone Rock and Rocky Pozzi of Port Wing. His grandchildren Alyssa (Caleb) Ballweg, Brandon, Ethan and Caitlin Wastlick. One brother Mark Pozzi (Deb) and two sisters Anita Nordstrum, and Patricia Pozzi. He is survived by nieces, nephews and many other dear family and close friends.
Ray is preceded in death by his father Virgil “Leo” Pozzi, his stepmother Ione, his mother Doris Mae Edwards, stepfather Joe Edwards, a step brother Billy Richmond , his brother-in-law John, as well as his grandparents and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
