WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Mid-State Technical College Accounting Instructor Susan Strautmann was recently appointed to the Wisconsin Accounting Examining Board, filling a vacant accountant member seat until July 1, 2020.

“I am honored to serve our State of Wisconsin as a member of the Accounting Examining Board,” said Strautmann, who first applied for gubernatorial appointment in Nov. 2018. “It was the Mid-State Accounting Program that started me on my accounting pathway and prepared me for a smooth transition into further education and opportunities like becoming a Certified Public Accountant and now a member of the Accounting Examining Board.”

Strautmann was appointed by Governor Tony Evers to serve on the board on Feb. 26, 2019, pending Wisconsin Senate confirmation. In March, she provided testimony to the Committee on Agriculture, Revenue and Financial Institutions at the State Capitol in Madison. The committee then passed her appointment unanimously on May 30, followed by full Senate confirmation on June 5.

The Wisconsin Accounting Examining Board consists of five members who hold certificates as certified public accountants as well as two public members. The board oversees the accounting profession by both promulgating rules that regulate certified public accountants and conducting disciplinary proceedings.
