For the Rapids City Times

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – On July 27 shortly after noon, Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies were completing an investigation at a home on Gaynor Avenue in Wisconsin Rapids when they located a device that had characteristics similar to a homemade bomb, in a vehicle in the backyard of the property.

The Marathon-Oneida County Bomb Squad was called in to investigate and it was deemed that the bomb was not active. They were able to dismantle the device without incident.

The public was not at risk during this incident.
