Rafters pick up critical home win over Green Bay

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The first-place Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (16-9) extended their lead in the Great Lakes West Division with a gutsy 4-2 win over the Green Bay Booyah (13-12) on July 30.
Facing a 1-0 deficit in the second inning, Jake Dunham drove in the tying run for the Rafters with an RBI double to right field. Dunham came around to score on an error later in the inning to give Rapids the lead.
Blaise Maris hit a sacrifice fly for Green Bay to tie the game in the sixth, but Noah Thigpen roped a two-RBI double down the left-field line to put Wisconsin Rapids up 4-2. Jimmy Borzone pitched two clean innings and Brayden Bonner struck out three in the ninth to get the save.
Starter Matt Osterberg earns the win for Wisconsin Rapids with six strikeouts in six innings of work. Victor Santana gets the loss for Green Bay. The Rafters now have a three-game lead on both the Booyah and the Lakeshore Chinooks in the division standings with 11 games to play.
