Wood County releases results from traffic initiative

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wood County Sheriff’s Department has released the results from this summer’s traffic enforcement initiative.

Collectively, the Wood Country Sheriff’s Department, Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, Marshfield Police Department, Pittsville Police Department, Grand Rapids Police Department, Nekoosa Police Department, and Port Edwards Police Department reported issuing 68 traffic citations for speeding on Wood County roadways.

While the primary focus was on speed, seat belts, and reckless driving, all agencies collectively issued the following citations and made various arrests during these traffic stops: 22 seat belt violations; six arrests for operating while intoxicated; eight operating after revocation or suspension violations; six citations for vehicle registration; 155 citations for other various moving and equipment violations; and 117 written warnings for various moving and equipment violations

The next coordinated traffic deployment with all agencies participating is Aug. 5.
