WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Households and farms use and store a variety of chemicals. Improperly stored or disposed chemicals can cause health problems and contamination of groundwater, surface water, soil and air. Clean Sweep provides Wood County residents and farms an opportunity to properly dispose of unwanted chemicals.

This year, Clean Sweep will be held Sept. 7, 8 a.m. – noon, in South Wood County, at the Saratoga Town Hall, 1116 State Hwy 73 South, Wisconsin Rapids.

Limited amounts of hazardous waste from households and farms and can be brought in free of charge for safe, convenient and legal disposal. Agricultural chemical pre-registration is mandatory for quantities over 200 pounds. Businesses can also participate in Clean Sweep to dispose of unwanted chemicals in an easy, low-cost way. To obtain a free, no obligation disposal estimate, contact [email protected] or 715-298-2623 by Aug. 28.

For information, call Extension Wood County at 715-421-8440 or visit wood.extension.wisc.edu.
