MARSHFIELD – Two local schools are recipients of Youth E-Cigarette (Vaping) Prevention stipends through Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) and Security Health Plan.

Those awarded include a broad cross-section of organizations including human service agencies, law enforcement, public health departments and educational institutions. Project areas cover community awareness events, coordination with state policy initiatives, curriculum development, and implementation of youth-led action plans to address e-cigarette use in school.

MCHS and Security Health Plan are collaborating with Granton Area School District, Granton, and Lincoln High School, Wisconsin Rapids, to implement these initiatives in their respective communities.

“Our Health System and Security Health Plan have grown increasingly concerned about health implications of e-cigarette use among our youth,” said Jay Shrader, the Health System’s vice president of Community Health and Wellness. “Discussions with our community and state agency partners motivated us to mobilize and extend these resources to address this concern now. Recent events highlight the sense of urgency we all share.”
