For the Rapids City Times

ROME – A 42-year-old man who died in a UTV crash in Adams County has been identified as Robert Garry of Germantown. The crash occurred on Aug. 11 in the town of Rome. When authorities arrived at the scene they found Garry unresponsive. They said he didn’t appear to be breathing and that he was still seat belted in the overturned UTV.

A 12-year-old boy, who had been on the machine with Garry, told officers he was incoherent before the crash, and had been closing his eyes and drifting on and off the road. The UTV left the road and struck a mailbox before overturning and coming to rest upside down. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Rome Police Department.

The passenger was transported by Nekoosa Ambulance to Riverview Hospital. The town of Rome Fire Department, Nekoosa Ambulance Service, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and Adams County Medical Examiner’s Office assisted at the scene.
