Schaefer takes first in national competition

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids Aqua Skier Molly Schaefer walked away with a first place finish, as the team and two individuals competed at nationals.
The Wisconsin Rapids Aqua Skiers show team competed in the Division I National Water Ski Show Championships Aug. 10-11 in Warsaw, IN, after qualifying for the tournament at the Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Tournament in July.
The Aqua Skiers returned to Division I Nationals after a 15-year hiatus; the team last competed in 2004. The Aqua Skiers worked hard and walked away with an 11th place finish out of 14 teams.
Team member, Molly Schaefer, 16, also qualified and competed in the Division I National Individual Swivel competition, earning first place. This was Schaefer’s second year at nationals; she competed in 2018, where she placed second.
Schaefer is only the second Aqua Skier to win a Division 1 National Swivel competition and has been selected to be part of Team USA for the World Water Ski Show Championships in Mulwala, Australia in March 2020.
Team member, Taylor Christianson, competed at the Division 2 National Swivel Competition in Tomahawk and walked away with a second place finish.
