The Wood County Sheriff's Department is presented with a traveling trophy from Van Patrick Gotz of Awards n' More and organizer, Stephanie Krause, during the first Wisconsin Vest-a-Dog fundraiser, held on Aug. 3 at Wildhorse Saloon in Wisconsin Rapids. The event helps provide K-9 officers with bullet and stab proof vests. The day’s events featured bingo, kids games, dunk-a-cop, and over 40 vendors. At 1 p.m., the “police department cook-off,” based on the TV show “Chopped” began with three departments participating – Wood County, Wisconsin Rapids, and Nekoosa. Wood County took the top prize.
