Centralia lot reconstruction to start Sept. 18

For the Rapids City Times
WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The reconstruction of the Centralia Parking lot is anticipated to start on Sept. 18.
City officials say that the reconstruction will occur in three phases, in an effort to keep the lot open as much as possible:
Phase 1 is expected to start on Sept. 18, with curb and gutter work on the islands and running electrical conduit for the replacement parking lot lighting. During phase 1 the parking lot will remain open and the majority of the asphalt will remain in place. The city’s contractor is anticipated to pour the curb and gutter the week of Sept. 23.
Phase 2 is scheduled to start Oct. 8, when city staff will begin work on the west half of the lot and the new entrance. Work will include removing asphalt, grading, as well as some curb and gutter work. Parking will be permitted on the remaining asphalt during phase 2.
Phase 3 is anticipated to begin Oct. 22. During this phase, city staff will be working on the east half of the lot. Work will include removing asphalt, grading, and some potential curb and gutter work. Patrons will be parking on the base material prepared in phase 2 during phase 3 repairs.
Finish grading and asphalt paving will take place on or about Oct. 28.
