NEKOOSA – The Papermakers boys soccer team topped Mauston, 3-1, in an Oct. 1 South Central matchup at Alexander Middle School.
Mauston was the first to score, but Nekoosa was able to come back with a goal of their through a 25-yard free kick from Bret McKeel to tie it up at the end of the first half.
It was all Nekoosa in the second half, with Blaze Thurber claiming a goal on his own, before assisting Bret McKeel on a third point.
“Nekoosa controlled possession, had more shots, and outplayed their opponents,” Nekoosa Coach Chris Goodwin said. “Despite the stats, the game wasn’t won with skill, it was effort. The Papermakers wanted it more, and that is why Mauston went home losing to Nekoosa 3-1.”
