WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Higher education leaders from around the state gathered on Mid-State’s Wisconsin Rapids Campus Oct. 9-10 for the Wisconsin Women in Higher Education Leadership (WWHEL) Fall 2019 Conference, followed by an optional Leadership Intensive Workshop on Oct. 11.

Through a combination of keynote presentations and breakout sessions, attendees explored the theme of centered leadership and how this model can help leaders thrive in business and in life, including ideas of meaning, managing energy, positive framing, connecting, and engaging. Keynote speakers included consultant and life coach,Meg Daly and international speaker and coach, Ali Starr. Other speakers included leadership coach and consultant, Allison Garner and coach and author, Annette Jacobson.

“This has been such an exciting three days for Mid-State,” said Mid-State’s Dean of Business & Technology Missy Skurzewski-Servant, who also serves as WWHEL board of directors vice president and Mid-State institutional representative. “We’re especially proud to have offered the conference’s first Leadership Intensive Workshop following the main conference to give attendees a chance to engage more deeply with the concepts of centered leadership through coaching and feedback.”

WWHEL provides opportunities for networking, information sharing and support for women in leadership and encourages women faculty and staff to pursue leadership positions. Mid-State’s WWHEL chapter was officially launched in 2018.

Mid-State’s WWHEL chapter was also awarded “Chapter of the Year” during the event.
