From the Publisher: Homelessness and our community

Dear reader,

For the past month, we have been participating in a statewide editorial campaign on the topic of homelessness, an outcome of a symposium we initiated involving legislators, the business community, service providers and members of the media. As a newspaper that reports on local communities and advocates for local business patronage in efforts to support community growth and sustainability, this newspaper is endeavoring to address the issue of homelessness— to represent the invisible within our communities who do not have the support network vital to withstanding economically, medically, or socially debilitating times.

October 10 is recognized annually as World Homeless Day, but this issue is not limited to a day. Rather, homelessness is a condition that significantly impacts members of our community and, subsequently, demands the attention and support of all its members in order to support the wellbeing and sustainable growth of our locales. A community thrives when all of its constituents are taken care of, and we each have different tools, abilities, and resources to support this endeavor.

This newspaper will continue to raise awareness and provide information for further ways to mitigate this issue. If you have additional resources, outlets, or thoughts that can aid in these efforts, do not hesitate to reach out. Each and every one of us can make an impact, and together we can do this.
