Nekoosa cancels school due to threat
For the City Times
NEKOOSA – Nekoosa Public Schools closed their schools on Dec. 6, as a result of an anonymous threat that was posted on social media on Dec. 5.
The district was notified Thursday night that an anonymous statement was posted to social media, which caused concern enough for a student and parent to contact Nekoosa Public Schools.
School officials and Nekoosa Police Department will continue working to uncover the origin of the post. The threat was nonspecific.
As a precaution, on Dec. 6 at 6:30 a.m., the district and law enforcement cooperatively made the decision to cancel school for all grade levels and notified staff and parents about this incident.
This is an ongoing investigation. School will resume on Monday.
