After a social media threat led to the cancellation of school on Dec. 6 in the Nekoosa School District, a group of Nekoosa seniors used their day off to make a positive impact. While one of the parents came up with the idea to use the day in a productive way, the students took the idea and “ran with it.” Starting a group chat they hatched a plan to meet at the Wisconsin Rapids Walmart where they purchased toys and then stopped by the US Bank on Eighth Street to place them in the Toys for Tots bin.
